One of the best transitions for a degenerate gambler is the non-stop action of March Madness rolling into the most visually appealing event in all sports. The soothing voice of Jim Nantz hits different when you have a dog in the hunt on Sunday’s back nine. So pour yourself an Azalea cocktail at 11am on Thursday and enjoy Augusta in all its glory.
This years theme – value. We think there’s a lot of it out there. If you want to sack up and go with DJ or Rahm, we don’t blame you at all. But…give these guys some thought.
Brooks 30/1 – Dude just had knee surgery and was supposed to be out a few months. Surprise, surprise, he’s ready to roll and already talking shit on Twitter. Nobody is more intimidating when they’re in the zone than this swaggy hunk of man meat. We can tell you with great certainty you will feel terrible if Brooks is in the mix going into the weekend and you don’t have a piece of his ass.
Morikawa 30/1 – This is probably bait, but we are taking it. Kawabunga shouldn’t be in the 30’s, he’s too good and he’s proved it. Vegas must know he’s going to shit the bed, but we are ignoring it.
Cam Smith 45/1 – Can’t you just see the natty light stache coming out hot on Thursday and not letting up? Because we can. Just a fun guy to root for, and we fucking love fun.
Sungjae Im 45/1 – Okay you little son of a bitch, we are going to stick with Im until we go broke. Yes his irons are shit. But if he can figure it out, he’s got a shot.
Cantlay 25/1 – He’s taken some time off, and we think it’s going to benefit him bigly. No real reason – it’s just what the gut is telling us. Trust it.
Speith 10/1 – This might be the biggest chump play you’ll see us take. We compare Spieth to Oregon State. The guy may have peaked too early winning last weekend, but the line shift from 40/1 to 10/1 makes us think Vegas knows he’s a liability. He remains hot like the Beavers and stays feisty. Up the units and ride the hot hand.
Honorable mention: Hovland +3000, guy has been hot lately and this could be his weekend. Webb Simpson +5500, long shot but can get him T10 at +350.
