The Genesis Invitational @ Riviera Country Club in Southern California
Here’s how we like to bet golf:
Take 1-2 top dogs (between 10-18/1), dabble with a few middle men (20-35/1) and then sprinkle in a few longshots.
Let’s start with our heavy hitters for this weekend:
***Tee time is 9:40 EST today, so wipe ya ass and punch in your bets now***
Bryson Dechambeau (+1600) – I know I know, the golf world strongly dislikes this turd. But let’s be honest, he’s due for a win. Bryson has finished top 15 and top 5 his last two trips to Riviera. This course tends to favor long hitters, and nobody crushes a golf ball further than this walking protein shake. If he can stay straight off the tee, we like his chances.
Patrick Cantlay (+1800) – We love betting on familiarity. Cantlay went to UCLA and has played this course a ton (allegedly). Tied 17th here in 2020, and T15 in 2019. Not only that, he’s been on absolute fire lately - finishing solo 3rd last week in Pebble Beach, and solo 2nd in Palm Springs. If you are only taking one of the two top picks here, lay it on Pat.
Value picks:
Colin Morikawa (+3000) – Great odds for a certified stud. Another Cali kid, who’s also playing some good golf this year. He’s had two top 7 finishes in Hawaii so far in 2021. Tied 27th here last year.
Hideki Matsuyama (+3500) – Solid track record at this course for Hideki. Finished top 5 here in 2020, and T9th in 2019. Similar to Colin, we love these odds for a guy who checks all the boxes on what you need to win at this type of track.
Let’s play the Lotto:
Marc Leishman (+5500) – Another Aussie won here last year (Adam Scott), but it was Leishman who gave it a good run the year prior en route to finishing 4th. So far this year, Leish has a top 18 finish at Torrey Pines, and a 4th place finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii. We like him to finish top 10 at +450.
Matthew Wolff (+6600) – Not much to analyze here, just love seeing a guy with talent getting this much juice. We are taking the Wolff to finish top 10 at +600.
Our advice? Don’t go crazy with the pre flop bets. Just enough to keep you engaged Thursday and Friday. Then, if you don’t have any horses in the race, pounce on some live action Saturday morning before the third round.
Next up (this will be quick!) - we’ve got a helluva soccer match and what should be an incredible outdoor hockey game.
Everton V Liverpool – Saturday 2/20 – 12:30pm EST
Liverpool are back from the dead! After losing 3 straight matches, they bounced back with a big 2-0 win against RB Leipzig (whoever the fuck that is) in Champions League earlier this week. Meanwhile, Everton had a respectable draw vs Man U, and then one of the more exciting finishes this season topping Tottenham 5-4. Since then, they’ve dropped two straight. This should be all Liverpool here as they play for some pride down the home stretch.
The Pick – Liverpool -1 (-125)
Colorado Avalanche vs Vegas Knights – Lake Tahoe – Saturday 2/20 – 3pm EST
How does it get any better than this? We honestly do not know. Potential preview of the Western Conference Finals, and it’s gong to be played outdoors in Lake Tahoe. You don’t have to be a hockey fan to appreciate what is about to take place. Here’s what you need to know – we absolutely LOVE the Avalanche here. They just grinded out a gritty win in Vegas on a last minute goal without three of their best players. Oh and guess fucking what? They’ll all be back for this game Saturday. Vegas is boarding the plane with poop in their pants. Tyson Jost, Cale Makar and fucking Gabriel Landeskog sitting in Covid protocol chomping at the bit to get back on the ice. Just say the name “Gabriel Landeskog” out loud and tell me this guy isn’t born to play hockey outdoors. Unfortunately, there are no lines up this far in advanced (we’d guess Avs will be around -115), but it doesn’t matter. Avs ML, puck line, score first, TT over…you name it. Colorado every which way.
Get outside for this one if you can, nothing better than enjoying outdoor hockey in the elements!
