This weekends NFL and CFB official picks will still be in your inbox on Friday, but Thanksgiving is all about over-indulging, so we like to do a special newsletter for what we have our eyes on today.
Slightly different format on this one. We’ll touch on every game and give a favorite bet from each of us. A mix of sides, totals and props.
Pour yourself a nice glass of gravy and nuzzle in on the sofa for a day of gluttony.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
*Thanksgiving picks won’t count on our official record*
Thanksgiving Day
Running the video below back for the vibes…
Bears at Lions -9.5 Total 48.5
Start your day off easy. Maybe a few snacks and a double digit spread. Nice way to ease into to the day with some props.
Despite slightly leaning towards the Bears, we’ve decided not to begin our holiday by fading the Lions. Detroit is the hottest team in the NFL - straight up and ATS. It would take a lot more than a bit of Goff history to get us to line up against them…
The Bears lost but covered in back to back divisional games, and the narrative that this team “quit” has yet to be proven.
No side or total from your Degen crew to start the day, but we will be attacking props.
Getting a pick out of Steak for this one was a bit tough. All we could gather was “Gibbs feels too easy”. The man has been feasting all year so it would only make sense for him not to eat when the rest of America is stuffing their faces.
Degen taking a heaping side of revenge. The Lions let D’Andre Swift walk and never thought twice about it. Now they’re thriving with the best 1-2 RB combo in the NFL. Gotta take a toll on Swift, and Degen says he’s ready to rip before the Cranberry Sauce is ready.
As for me, Greg, I fell like we haven’t heard Rome Odunze’s name in a while. Back to back games with 10 targets but not much else. It could be time for him to show up again. Then I see our guy Royal is on him. How can I pass this up?
Degen’s Best Bet: D’Andre Swift OVER 66.5 Rush + Rec Yards (-115)
Greg’s Best Bet: Rome Odunze over 42.5 yards (-120)
Steak’s Best Bet: Not Gibbs
Giants at Cowboys +3.5 Total 37.5
We’re calling this the Bulemic Thanksgiving. A game so nasty that everyone is sure to throw up their delicious feast.
Not totally sure who’s starting at QB for the the Giants, but it sounds like it’ll be Drew Lock. Even though that might seem like an upgrade from Tommy Cutlets, the Giants might be the grossest bet on the board today. For that reason, Steak is in.
Degen has been all about Malik Nabers since this season started. He’s been vocal about his frustrations as of late. With another change at QB and a guy like Lock playing with nothing to lose, Degen thinks it’ll be the perfect opportunity to just force feed him footballs.
I want to play the Giants with Steak, but for the sake of a bit of diversity to your Thanksgiving Day, I’ll be going solo on the over. Both of these offenses are terrible, but the defenses are not without their own problems. Why not bet on a little bit of chaos on a short week?
Degen’s Best Bet: Nabers OVER 6.5 Receptions (+105)
Greg’s Best Bet: Over 37.5 (-110)
Steak’s Best Bet: Giants +3.5 (-110)
Dolphins at Packers -3.5 Total 47.5
Saving the best and only truly meaningful game for last.
The sweatpants are on, grandmas tucked in for the night, your sister left early because your dad wore a MAGA hat to dinner. What’s better than an American Thanksgiving, baby! And we got a playoff caliber game in Lambeau with freezing temperatures. Gotta love it.
Forget about how these teams are trending - the most powerful narrative is that Tua and the Dolphins can’t play in the cold. It’s not without evidence, the guy is 0-7 in games under 40 degrees. But what better place to get the monkey off his back than the frozen tundra of Lambeau field?
Great Tweet thread below if you care to take the time for a deep dive…
On the other side, the Packers are coming off a massive revenge spot, destroying the 49ers who beat them in the playoffs last year. Not that they won’t be up for a Primetime Thanksgiving Night Game at home, but you have to wonder how much they left on the field on Sunday.
We got ourselves a bit of a squad ride for dessert.
Degen Crew: Dolphins +3.5 (-115)
It’s the holidays so let’s take a second and get overly emotional.
This is year four of our Newsletter and it’s been our best year to date, despite our miserable NFL record.
We’re only a few dozen subscribers away from the 2,500 mark, which is pretty cool considering we’re just a few idiots who love sports gambling.
So to anyone who’s pledged, opens the email every week, shared with a friend, tailed us, faded us - all of you continue to help us grow every week and for that, we say THANK YOU!
Happy Thanksgiving from Degen Nation
